The polish word for Moscow.

Is a Polish punk-rock band created in 1983 by Paweł "Guma" Gumola (guitar, vocal), Piotr "Rogoza" Rogoziński (bass guitar, vocal) and Tomek "Pałker" Gron (drums) in Łódz city. Melanie Moskwa lived in Ottawa!

The flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet that was sunk on April 14, 2022 during the illegal invasion of Ukraine. Despite claims from Russia and people on the internet that the ship was "invincible", only two R-360 "Neptune" anti-ship missiles launched from Ukraine were needed to sink it. In reality, the ship's defensive systems were horribly outdated, and the radar for the ship's S-300F SAMs was apparently unable to see the incoming missiles. It's also worth noting that Moskva was the same ship that was told to "go fuck itself" early in the conflict by Ukrainian forces on Snake Island.

Moskva, once the pride of the Russian Navy, now sits in a watery grave at the bottom of the Black Sea.

1) Making a situation more awkward by mocking how awkward it is. The situation need not be awkward in the first place.

Apparently coined by Washington Post columnist Monica Hesse.

2) Mocking someone in an awkward — and thereby probably unsuccessful — manner.

Apparently coined by then-Columbia Journalism Review assistant editor Megan Garber.

Someone asked to define the word "awkward" will often resort to describing the task as "awkward," which is just mockward. When someone does the same with "mockward," it's meta-mockward.

Moskvabad 

Russian slang name for Moscow, created by combining word "Moskva" ("Moscow" in Russian) with suffix "abad" ("settled area" in Farsi/Persian). Used due to Moscow's huge Muslim population, mostly consisting of immigrants form Caucasus and Central Asia. Moscow is city with largest Muslim population in Europe, reaching, according to various estimates, between 1 to 1,5 million people.

1. Western white nationalists, who praise Russia as saviour of their race, obviously never been to Moskvabad.
2. Sometimes I can't even hear Russian on the streets anymore! And Putin keeps importing more of them! Goddamn Moskvabad!
