intervention

when a group of friends get together to help out another friend who has a problem, like drugs, manic depression, beating his wife, etc. usually involves an informal get-together during which the friends all sit down and talk with the person having problems.
im calling a cookout next saturday for jim, its gonna be his intervention: he's gotta stop doing meth and hurting his children.

i will never forget how my friends held an intervention for me and got me off crack. i owe my life to them

intercontinental ballistic missile gambit

The intercontinental ballistic missile gambit is a Chess gambit made by the Bosnian Ape Society. It is a variation of the tennison gambit. The intercontinental ballistic missile gambit is very effective, having a 99.9% win rate. The intercontinental ballistic missile gambit starts with a standard opening, Kings pawn to E4. Afterwards, any move black makes is considered a mistake. After black makes the blunder move, u put your knight to F3. If black played the Scandinavian defense and is now threatening your knight, move the knight to F5 to threaten the Pawn. White expects for black to play Knight to F6. After that, we will offer a pawn by playing D3. Your pawn is expected to be captured because your low on material. After he captures, you capture his pawn back with the dark squared Bishop. After that, any move that black makes will not be too severe to you. So, after black plays his move you will be playing knight F7. This will force black into capturing the knight with a king. After that, play bishop g6 to check black. Now, if u haven’t notice the king is forced to capture the bishop. After that, u will notice that the enemy queen is unprotected which is now the time u strike. You will proceed to launch a RT-2PM2 Topol-M cold-launched three-stage solid-propellant silo-based intercontinental ballistic missile to attack black’s remaining pieces.
I like the intercontinental ballistic missile gambit.

Divine Jewish Intervention

When an unexplainable occurrence (aka miracle) happens causing/allowing one to save money.

Examples of this phenomenon are plentiful. Finding a coupon right before you're about to buy something. Discovering a discount at the register for something you're about to buy. Noticing that you have an extra $100 in savings you forgot about. Finding an extra $5 in your purse you never knew was there. Tampax being put on sale during the week you just so happened to start your period. The list goes on and on.....
"Honey, remember that resturant we're going to on Friday? I just got a coupon for it in the mail! It's Divine Jewish Intervention!"

"I went to the store expecting to pay $100 for those shoes but Divine Jewish Intervention caused them to only ring up for $80!"

Back when I lived in upstate new york

A meaningless, unimpressive, self-serving introduction. An indicator that the story about to be shared will be pointless and dumb.
Back when I lived in upstate new york, I also had to park on the street - on two occasions, we got enough snow, mixed with just the right plowing, that my car was lifted off the ground from so much snow being jammed underneath it.

Sister: This meeting was to discuss the rough draft of my essay, where we discussed the subsidiary questions I added in my rough draft. We also discussed the relationship between my main title and the real-life situations I chose to use in my essay. We discussed the structure of my essay as well, specifically the Math AOK section and how it relates to the contradiction of the title. This second meeting was particularly helpful in discussing the implications of my essay claims and how to apply the title across various areas of knowledge. There were many sections of the essay that could have been cut down in wordiness and the ways of knowing required further and more in-depth analysis.
