boertjie
An Afrikaans speaking person that loves rugby, drinking, Christianity, farm life, hunting and being hard but fair. The word ‘boer’ comes from the Dutch word for ‘farmer’ and became popular when the British were fighting with the farmers in Southern Africa, the Boer War (Farmers War). The ‘tjie’ is a diminutive suffix.
Those boertjies love to party. There is a lot of boertjies playing for Saracens. The boertjie's English is shocking! The boertjies have been in Africa since 1652. West Midlands slang word for rockers, bikers, greasers etc. In the late 1980s it was used by the UK music press to refer to a specific scene centered around the bands Pop Will Eat Itself and Crazyhead.
