Short for Gelatinous Cube, a monster in the Dungeons and Dragons universe in the category of unaligned Ooze, typically portrayed as a large cube-shaped creature made entirely of a translucent or transparent gelatinous substance.

Also, the helmsman or pilot of a boat.

This is a word from Roman times and was NOT coined for Schwarzenegger.
An example appears in a 19th century poem by Oliver Wendell Holmes, "Contentment" -
