Hedgery refers to any hedge plantings (whether grouped symmetrically or asymmetrically) that tend to become overgrown, on purpose, to exhibit the defiant wildness and power of nature and may indicate the rebelliousness of the property owner. Hedgeries may be irritating to neighbors in manicured communities, and are generally more appreciated in a country setting. Well clipped and trained shrubbery is more appropriate to manicured communities. A hedgery may be composed of foliage or flowering plants, including but not limited to those used in shrubbery. Bougainvillea, Fuchsia, and berry bushes are common examples of Hedgery plants.
Have you ever seen such blooms as those on Marge's Fuchsia hedgery?

You know Laurel, we're going to have to speak to the Nesbit's. I swear, since they took the place over from Alice and Dan, that beautiful Bougainvillea shrubbery on the side has turned into a flipping hedgery! It needs clipping desperate, for every time a body walks by they get slapped in the face with a branch of it. Those thorns are a danger to the eyes of every passer by, although the flowers are quite lovely.

A BUSTLE IN YOUR HEDGEROW

"A bustle in your hedgerow," the enigmatic line in Led Zep's "Stairway To Heaven" classic, has mystified music mavens for decades. Hopefully, the following will sprinkle a scintilla of elucidation and edification upon this cryptic conundrum.

A hedgerow is a hedge that surrounds many estates in Britain.

Bustle, or noise or activity, used in this sense, means a disturbance close to home. Something's happening in your world!

It's just a spring clean for the May Queen.

Spring cleaning is an old domestic ritual cleaning meant to do away with the troubles of the past year and prepare for the coming year, and often includes disposing of old, useless things that have been lying around.

The May Queen was a maiden chosen by a village to represent the hopes and potential for the coming year. She was a symbol of beauty, spring and new beginnings.

So here, as an analogy, the lyric refers to getting rid of old and outdated systems in order to allow progress to occur.

OR it can refer to menarche, or the first menstrual cycle, signifying that a girl is coming of age.

OR, it could mean that you have a fuckin' bee in your bonnet!
No example needed.

hedgerow grumble

British schoolboy term for a stash of porn found under a hedgerow. It is an ancient custom in Britain that once a jazz mag has come to the end of its life, the owner shall place it under a hedgerow so that it may be adopted by a new one.
Timmy: "Whacko Roger! Hit the blimmin' jackpot last night!"
Roger: "Oh do tell!"
Timmy: "Yes, found some cracking hedgerow grumble down Dale Lane!"
Roger: "Cripes! Better make sure your housekeeper doesn’t find it or there'll be no sherbet fountains for you, ho ho!"
A row of hedges. Sometimes replace a fence.
If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now. It's a just a spring clean the May queen.
I saw a couple of Hedgers get out of that old van that's been parked in the same spot down the end of the street all month.

Leath Hedger

The Leath Hedger, also known as the reverse joker, or the smiling skull, is the surgical scar left after a hair transplant procedure known as a follicular unit extraction (FUE).
Timmy can never shave his head again because of the Leath Hedger scar at the back of his head. He looks like the joker from the new batman movie put a "smile on the back of his head"

West Midlands slang word for rockers, bikers, greasers etc. In the late 1980s it was used by the UK music press to refer to a specific scene centered around the bands Pop Will Eat Itself and Crazyhead. The term never found favour with readers of 'the inkies' (Sounds, Melody Maker and the still extant NME) and was soon dropped. Now often used in predominantly working-class areas of the midlands and the north to mean someone who listens to rock-derived music and/or dresses in a manner that suggests they affiliate themselves with rock music of some kind.
