International taco fortnight originated around 2012 in the Monterey Bay Area of California and is an annual festive event to celebrate tacos and Mexican cuisine in general, lasting one fortnight (or longer if desired). One is encouraged, but not required, to consume tacos on a daily basis for the duration of this event.
