Parabatai

More than friends, more than siblings, more than blood. It is a special bond between two people that can’t be broken. A form of love that lasts forever. Nephilim who protect one another and are stronger together.

Parabatai Oath:

Entreat me do not leave thee

Or to return from following after thee

For wither thou goest, I will go

And where thou lodgest, I will lodge

Thy people shall be my people
And thy God, my God

Where thou diest, I will die

And there I will be buried
The Angel do so to me, and more also
I aught but death part thee and me
Alec and Jace are parabatai.

parabotti

From the Greek (nou-) para- lazy; + botti - bum. Someone who makes out they're too ill to do anything when they're at home and then when they get out the front door they're fit and healthy all of a sudden!
Mike: Yo, Rude, put your dirty socks and smelly pants in the laundry pile!

Rudy: Ah man, leave me alone, can't you see I've got a cold!

(10 minutes later...)

Rudy: See you later Mikey, I'm off to meet Giselle!

Mike (to himself): Man, that dude is a right parabotti!

parabolas

A mathmatical graph originated by the ancient greeks some two thousand years ago and still inflicted upon unsuspecting high school students today. Vastly inferior to the hyperbola, of course.
Math geek: I'm not merely eccentric, I'm a parabola!

Math teacher: now, class, graph this equation on your TI-83 calculators and tell me what kind of parabola it is.
Class: *groans*

Coyote Ugly

1. Place

The Bar came before the movie. It is an awesome bar where the girls know how to party and make you feel okay about giving up your money, drawers, bras, and dignity.

2. Movie

A story about a Jersey girl following her dreams, aided by working at this bar in New York.

3. Situation/Person/Decision

See other definitions - waking up next to someone so ugly you'd rather chew your arm off than wake them up.

Back when I lived in upstate new york

A meaningless, unimpressive, self-serving introduction. An indicator that the story about to be shared will be pointless and dumb.
Back when I lived in upstate new york, I also had to park on the street - on two occasions, we got enough snow, mixed with just the right plowing, that my car was lifted off the ground from so much snow being jammed underneath it.

Sister: This meeting was to discuss the rough draft of my essay, where we discussed the subsidiary questions I added in my rough draft. We also discussed the relationship between my main title and the real-life situations I chose to use in my essay. We discussed the structure of my essay as well, specifically the Math AOK section and how it relates to the contradiction of the title. This second meeting was particularly helpful in discussing the implications of my essay claims and how to apply the title across various areas of knowledge. There were many sections of the essay that could have been cut down in wordiness and the ways of knowing required further and more in-depth analysis.
