Chattering Classes

The term Chattering Classes is an essentially British expression, seldom heard outside the UK. It was invented by British journalist Oberon Waugh (he really couldn’t stand them) but was later taken up by pundits and political commentators to describe a group of the “metropolitan middle class”. Generally though it’s used as a derogatory tag for those who are politically active, socially concerned and ‘highly’ educated; especially those with political, media or academic connections. Its original meaning has now changed somewhat and now it usually refers to WOFS, Londoncentric pseudo-celebrities who talk a lot about social injustice, disaster relief, third world aid and all the other fashionable causes but do absolutely fuck all to help.

The chattering classes are all talk and no action.

Coppering

Collecting together money from your pockets, bag, around the house or down the back of the settee. Usually collected together to buy some small item like a pint of milk or a loaf of sliced bread. Therefore all the pennies and small change in copper will have an inordinate value.

May be used as a slightly offensive word if you have a group of people pooling all their money to buy a cheap bottle of wine between them or some similar object of desire.

Peter Stringfellow (The king of strip clubs) said recently 'The worst customers we have in here are groups of women (hen parties). They are always coppering together to buy one male stripper between them'.

Chopeing

The act of taking a photo of a female's crotch area from up her skirt ("upskirting") without her knowing.

Named after a British Member of Parliament, "Sir" Christopher Chope who blocked legislation which would have made such a specific act illegal in the UK.

I was at a gig at the weekend, and I caught this man chopeing me with his mobile phone. Dirty bastard.
