Motherwife

A term (often used in fiction, anime, manga, visual novels, fanfiction, or videogames) for a female character who starts out serving as a motherly figure to the protagonist — providing care, emotional support, guidance, nurturing, or protection — without being a blood relative. Over time (or through the story), this dynamic evolves into a romantic and/or sexual relationship, where she becomes his/hers lover or “wife” figure while retaining strong maternal qualities.
