A type of quotation that is used to combine the views of an individual's meaning for meaning translation of another person's quote, or to
almost accurately, yet impurely quote
something. Half quotes are used when a writer has an agenda, wants to be funny, has a slightly
better way of saying what the original quote said, or just forgets the word for word quote itself, but still remembers the author of the original quote and what it meant.
Half Quotes are expressed by leaving out the initial quotation marks, and are sometimes used explicitly to give the reader the initial feeling that they are still reading from the writer, but end with quotation marks and give
credit to the author of the original version of the statement.
