During 2005/06, DfES defined a persistent truant as a pupil who missed 20 or more days classed as unauthorised absence. Children often refer to it as "doing a bunk", "bunking off" or "skiving".
is a common practice (often found on board naval submarines) where several people share the same bed. When the next person swaps out for work, the person laying down finds that the bed is still warm from the prior user, hence the term hot bunking.
