The word is derived from the name given to the tissue-building state known as "anabolism," to translate literally to "the building of men."

Legend has it, "manabolism" was first coined by a group of music students at the Florida State University in the early summer of 2011, as they spent the entirety of a Saturday consuming copious amounts of protein and carbohydrates (including, but not limited to bacon, steak, eggs and beer), before and after participating in a series of sports games.
