Alex Hirsch

The god of entertainment and imagination. His true origins are unknown, he presents us a fabrication about California, but the most popular theory is he was created when Disney noticed that they completely sucked balls and made a deal with a dream demon to make something worth watching be made. They were given an entity known as Alex Hirsch, and Gravity Falls was born.
We all went to the temple of Alex Hirsch today to present our offerings of gratitude.

Diversity hire

In a corporation, this is a person who was hired solely because of the color of their skin, or their sexual identity, as opposed to their actual skills or contributions to the company. This person is usually employed for reasons including company PR or lower government taxation.
Jerry: "Which one of us was the useless simpleton who organized all these files incorrectly?"
Harry: "It was Terry, the diversity hire."
Jerry: "If we screwed up as much as he does, we'd be fired."
Harry: "Sadly, Terry is a homosexual black man, so HR won't touch him."

Icon For Hire

An awesome band. Although they are supposedly a 'christian' band, the rockin music is anything but and many fans will tell you how they aren't. A very little known band that should be more popular.
Me: Listen to this apparently 'christian' band, Icon for Hire!

(Friend who only listens to christian music): Woah...that isn't christian music...

Me: It's awesome though right?

(Friend who only listens to christian music): Hell yeah! They rock!

Diversity hire

Have ever looked around your company and noticed how many team leaders and lower management tick diversity boxes? These people are diversity hires. All big corporations have quoters for diversity they need to meet and by hiring and promoting people who tick the right boxes the HR team can feel they are fighting for social justice
My new ream leader is a diversity hire. Totally useless but the company will cover for him as he's black and gay

personality hire

Someone underqualified for a job but hired anyway purely because they have a great personality/attitude. Personality hires are often very low performers in terms of output but are brought on because of bias / attraction / an effort to boost morale. Someone who is a personality hire is essentially the opposite of someone with impostor syndrome.
Me showing up to my job, knowing I'm a personality hire who doesn't bring anything to the table, but hey at least I bring good vibes.

Back when I lived in upstate new york

A meaningless, unimpressive, self-serving introduction. An indicator that the story about to be shared will be pointless and dumb.
Back when I lived in upstate new york, I also had to park on the street - on two occasions, we got enough snow, mixed with just the right plowing, that my car was lifted off the ground from so much snow being jammed underneath it.

Sister: This meeting was to discuss the rough draft of my essay, where we discussed the subsidiary questions I added in my rough draft. We also discussed the relationship between my main title and the real-life situations I chose to use in my essay. We discussed the structure of my essay as well, specifically the Math AOK section and how it relates to the contradiction of the title. This second meeting was particularly helpful in discussing the implications of my essay claims and how to apply the title across various areas of knowledge. There were many sections of the essay that could have been cut down in wordiness and the ways of knowing required further and more in-depth analysis.
