Edgerton Protest

Share definition Flag
A "protest" that occurred at Edgerton High School which was against bullying but in reality was because of a cat fight. The "protest" consisted of scumbags, idiots, swagfags, and the most ironic part, bullies. The people here either just wanted to skip school, friends of the girl who was in the cat fight, or they were oblivious to the truth behind the protest. After the protest people started posting on Facebook about it either saying the protest was a bunch of crap (the smart ones) or a bunch of idiots who were whining because the majority of the school thought they were idiots.
*Conversation heard while watching the Edgerton Protest*

Person 1: Look at those idiots out there freezing... this is all about the cat fight anyways!

Person 2: Yeah I know...

Idiot: Umm some of those people are my friends and this is fighting bullying!

Person 1: Then why aren't you out there?

*Minute Bell rings*

Idiot: Oh got to go to class! Sorry *flees*

A BUSTLE IN YOUR HEDGEROW

Share definition Flag
"A bustle in your hedgerow," the enigmatic line in Led Zep's "Stairway To Heaven" classic, has mystified music mavens for decades. Hopefully, the following will sprinkle a scintilla of elucidation and edification upon this cryptic conundrum.

A hedgerow is a hedge that surrounds many estates in Britain.

Bustle, or noise or activity, used in this sense, means a disturbance close to home. Something's happening in your world!

It's just a spring clean for the May Queen.

Spring cleaning is an old domestic ritual cleaning meant to do away with the troubles of the past year and prepare for the coming year, and often includes disposing of old, useless things that have been lying around.

The May Queen was a maiden chosen by a village to represent the hopes and potential for the coming year. She was a symbol of beauty, spring and new beginnings.

So here, as an analogy, the lyric refers to getting rid of old and outdated systems in order to allow progress to occur.

OR it can refer to menarche, or the first menstrual cycle, signifying that a girl is coming of age.

OR, it could mean that you have a fuckin' bee in your bonnet!
No example needed.

hedgerow grumble

Share definition Flag
British schoolboy term for a stash of porn found under a hedgerow. It is an ancient custom in Britain that once a jazz mag has come to the end of its life, the owner shall place it under a hedgerow so that it may be adopted by a new one.
Timmy: "Whacko Roger! Hit the blimmin' jackpot last night!"
Roger: "Oh do tell!"
Timmy: "Yes, found some cracking hedgerow grumble down Dale Lane!"
Roger: "Cripes! Better make sure your housekeeper doesn’t find it or there'll be no sherbet fountains for you, ho ho!"

A person, usually a coworker, who's offering unsolicited and undesirable help, being more of a nuisance than a source of actual help.
That helperton insisted on bagging my groceries, and he put all of the heavy frozen foods in a single paper bag which ripped apart as I was carrying it out.

Striver

Share definition Flag
The striver is an interesting phenomenon that is seen across college campuses. In essence, the striver is an over-achiever who comes from a working or middle class family. He may be an immigrant. He may have been a slacker in HS who was "born again" into an academic wunderkind. Or he may just be an over-achiever who is keeping at it.

The striver is willing to sacrifice his social life at the expense of Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude. The striver is the guy who stays at the library long after you are gone. The striver is the guy who takes 30 credits/semester and considers anything below an A/4.0 failure. The striver doesn't work on campus, he is too busy finding ways to pad his resume instead of working retail or workstudy. The striver lets his grades pay his education by applying to ten scholarships a year.

The striver is a future Soros/Fullbright/Rhodes/Gates/Marshall/etc. fellow. The striver lives to study. For the striver, their fun comes from the rewards they expect to receive in return for their diligence. Be it Law School, B-School, academia, or politics. The striver seeks to find the American Dream through academic success.
Anthony was a striver. He transfered from a TTT to an IVY and graduated in 2 years. He studied his ass off and went to Penn Law. He got a Biglaw offer. But lost it all because of an unmoderated mesasgeboard.
