An authoritative individual of questionable medical, scientific and/or scholastic merit.

scientarian

One who has a religious level of belief in "science", while having only the most superficial of understanding in the scientific concepts they argue. They frequently get involved in creation/evolution debates, but can only act smugly superior without adding anything of substance to the argument. They fail to understand that their dismissive, dogmatic responses to other belief systems are in fact hypocritical and detrimental to conversion.

Person 1: Creationist science = oxymoron. Either you believe in objective evidence or you don't.
Person 2: Is that the extent of your argument? What objective evidence are you referring to? What studies are you referencing? To which particular claim of Creationist Science are you denying? Your scientarian debate tactics will not help you here.

something that is both based in science and superstition (superstitious)

ex: "oh, how very scientitious of you"

said in response to people doing things that sound scientific but are actually superstitious.

(painting a car yellow so it 'goes faster')

ex: can also be used to describe things such as Hollywood fake science babble (ex. Star Trek tech lingo, superhero power explanations etc.)
