In contemporary English, "definitely" means "never". A face-saving maneuver in conversation...when somebody says definitely, it's an up-front lie.

People also use the word for sarcasm to mean something that is not going to happen or is real
Literal: If you do that, definitely there will be consequenses
Sarcasm: omg did you know that the earth will explode in 1 nanosecond this is definitely real wdym 100%
