An electronic music genre that emphasizes the very high and some parts of the upper-mid range of tracks in order to prominently feature the hi-hat sound of a traditional drum kit.

It is in stark contrast to traditional electronic dance music where a pounding bass drum sound is prominently featured, and the bass line is emphasized.

Since the absence of bass doesn't resonate through walls as easy, it is a preferred genre of club night afterhours that take place in residential areas, as it does not bother sleeping neighbors as easily.

It is considered a DJ mix connoisseur's preferred style as it exposes mixing errors more prominently.

Minimal techno was one of the first genres to experience "hi-hat-ification," as it was first featured on Norwegian DJ DJ Kristov Gjesdal's radio show "High Pass Radio."

This DJ has way too much kick drum action--he needs to get with the program and start spinning hi-hat.

Words you can keep
The hihat consists of two cymbals mounted on a metal stand. The top cymbal can move up and down to open or close the hihat via the pedal. It can be played in both the open and closed positions.
That hi hat sounds so tight.

Hi-hat head

When listening to music, instead of bobbing ones head to the beat, one bobs ones head along with the hi-hat.
Every time that song comes on, he gets hi-hat head.

synthetic hi-hats

The sound of a hi-hat (a pair of cymbals on a stand with a foot pedal that is used to open & close them; thus changing the sound that they make when struck with drumsticks) created solely by synthesizer hardware or computer software synthesis.

Most frequently heard in electronic music ("electronica" is the name of the actual musical genre).

No real hi-hats are damaged or destroyed when synthetic hi-hats are employed.
The song, "Move to the Beat" by the electronica group Monkey Zound has synthetic hi-hats in it! How kewl!

Back when I lived in upstate new york

A meaningless, unimpressive, self-serving introduction. An indicator that the story about to be shared will be pointless and dumb.
Back when I lived in upstate new york, I also had to park on the street - on two occasions, we got enough snow, mixed with just the right plowing, that my car was lifted off the ground from so much snow being jammed underneath it.

Sister: This meeting was to discuss the rough draft of my essay, where we discussed the subsidiary questions I added in my rough draft. We also discussed the relationship between my main title and the real-life situations I chose to use in my essay. We discussed the structure of my essay as well, specifically the Math AOK section and how it relates to the contradiction of the title. This second meeting was particularly helpful in discussing the implications of my essay claims and how to apply the title across various areas of knowledge. There were many sections of the essay that could have been cut down in wordiness and the ways of knowing required further and more in-depth analysis.
