1) Making a situation more awkward by mocking how awkward it is. The situation need not be awkward in the first place.

Apparently coined by Washington Post columnist Monica Hesse.

2) Mocking someone in an awkward — and thereby probably unsuccessful — manner.

Apparently coined by then-Columbia Journalism Review assistant editor Megan Garber.

Someone asked to define the word "awkward" will often resort to describing the task as "awkward," which is just mockward. When someone does the same with "mockward," it's meta-mockward.

1. One who loosely practices vegetarianism.
2. A fake, wannabe or former herbivore.

1. Kind of or somewhat relating to vegetarianism or vegetarians, but only when it is convenient or ‘cool’ to do so.
2. Not consisting primarily or wholly of vegetables and vegetable products, consumes a lot of seafood especially salmon and shrimp (sushi is a huge weakness) and loves animal products such as stinky cheese.

mike was a vegetarian....no chicken, no beef, no seafood. he now eats seafood therefore he is no longer a vegetarian, but a mockatarian.

A non-alcoholic kids' beverage made to look and taste like a cocktail and marketed specifically to children, often with names like Green Grasshopper (green grenadine and soda water), Shirley Temple (sweet soda), Mocktini (lemon-lime soda with a marachino cherry), Mockmo (cranberry juice and soda water), Hattie (ginger ale and a cherry), etc.

Boy, this restaurant has a huge menu of mocktails for the kiddies!
