When a city or metropolitan area pursues a gargantuan public infrastructure project that is considered mostly unnecessary by the citizenry while there are scant funds to pay for it. The urbanicide then occurs when an appointed (unelected) authority then decides to subject the region's citizens to
user fees (
read: toll
taxes) to pay for the extravagance, dividing the community and greatly impoverishing it at the same time.
The harsh tolls being forced down the
Louisville area's throat by the unelected
Louisville and Southern
Indiana Bridges Authority (LABIAS) for the Ohio River Bridges Project will surely result in a terrible urbanicide of what will be called a once-great city and region.
