In the Norwegian town of Sandnes, slidar is a word used to describe a noob.

Literally (with some dialect) means one who struggles.

Kmart sliders

During the 1980s, poorly made athletic shoes sold at Kmart, usually under the brand names of athletix, trax, or dynamax. The nickname sliders was derived from observing the less-fortunate kids who wore them in gym class, sliding all over the floor due to the poor quality of the soles.

Rodney missed school today because he slid into the bleachers and hit his head while playing floor hockey in gym class, likely as a result of wearing Kmart sliders.
