fetch quest

noun. A term, often used by gamers, to describe a quest in an RPG game in which the player must obtain an object or objects to complete the quest. While in the process, they may come into contact with enemies, obstacles, and or general head ache. After the player has obtained the object, the quest is completed, and the character is awarded with a tivial reward. Most gamers hate fetch quests, and games such as Aika Online are full of them.
Yeah, it's just a simple fetch quest. Just go get a bucket of milk and give it to the farmer.

Gah! I have to get a stupid glowing rock for only 1000 XP?!?! I hate fetch quests!

A Tribe Called Quest

The greatest hip hop group to ever walk this Earth. Composed of mildly famous rappers Q-Tip and Phife Dawg, along with Ali Shaheed (Who makes their beats), they held a virtual monopoly on their genre of hip hop during the Early/mid 1990's. Their best work can be found in the tracks "Award Tour", "Bonita Applebum", "Electric Relaxation", "Da Booty", "Check the rhime" (No, I did not mispell that), "Can I kick it?" and "Find a way".

However, the group is now disbanded, with no knowledge of what the future may hold for this exceptional tandem.
Any modern day hip hop fan, black, white, asian or hispanic, would call you "gay" for listening to A Tribe Called Quest or De La Soul, simply because the two groups don't rap about drugs, whores and violence.

A Tribe Called Quest

A fantastic hip-hop group formed in the late 80's-early 90's by now successful solo artist Q-Tip. They had a unique blend of jazz, rock, and alternative hip-hop that was not rivaled by many other groups. They have now disbanded, but their classic album "The Low End Theory" will live on as one of the greatest hip-hop albums ever recorded.
"Back in the days when I was a teenager,
Before I had status and before I had a pager,
You could find the abstract, listening to hip-hop,
My pops used to say it reminded him of bebop,
I said 'Well, daddy, don't you know that things go in cycles,
Way that Bobby Brown is just ampin' like
Michael,
It's all expected, things are for the lookin',
If you got the money, Quest is for the bookin''"

Deltora Quest

a really surprisingly good fantasy book series for "younger readers", but I'm in college and I still think they're pretty amazing. it is kind of like lord of the rings, but instead of taking a long journey to destroy something, the main characters are on a quest to make something (a magic belt) that'll help defeat the evil shadow lord.

each book involves them traveling to a new place in Deltora with a somewhat cheesy name (lake of tears, dread mountain, etc) and coming across some horrific challenge (usually some kind of monstrous beast) and finding another gem to put in the belt.

it's a great series because it is easy to read, and it is full of neat riddles, puzzles, codes, and interesting situations and characters. apparently the author based the books on a bunch of rpg's that her kids liked, so it really has a final fantasy/zelda sort of feel to it (Lief=Link?).

I like to read them when I go home because I can usually finish two or three books in a weekend and still have like 15 more for later. she has seriously published like two sequel series to the original Deltora quest series.

the sequel ones are deltora shadowlands (meh, still entertaining) and dragons of deltora (just about as good as the original series)
SO, in a nutshell: slightly less addicting than harry potter, less wordy and complicated than LOTR, easy, fun, and has its own anime series
brother: "why are you reading those Deltora Quest books again? what are you, like 21?"

me: "hush."
