Section 11362.5 Of California Health and Safety Code...A) To ensure that seriously ill Californians have the right to obtain and use marijuana for medical purposes where that medical use is deemed appropriate and has been recommended by a physician who has determined that the persons health would benefit from the use of marijuana in the treatment of cancer, anorexia, AIDS, chronic pain, spasticity, glaucoma, arthritis, migraine or any other illness for which marijuana provides relief.
Francis L. Young, an administrative law judge with the Drug Enforcement Agency, has declared that "in its natural form, (cannabis) is one of the safest therapeutically active substances known."

Medicanes are similar in virtue to a tropical cyclone but have the characteristics of a mid-latitude storm. Medicanes possess a warmer core than most Mediterranean low-pressure systems. Typically the cooler waters of the Mediterranean don't have warm enough water to generate the energy necessary to fuel tropical waves and related thunderstorms that spawn a tropical cyclone. Medicanes have the potential for tropical-storm-force winds, heavy rainfall, and coastal flooding .
Rare storms like a Medicane may become more common if climate change makes the Mediterranean Sea warmer.
