1. a conjunction of the words Fud and halfwit (or hawfwit in Scotland).
2. A fudwit is a term used to describe a person who is stupid in a dimwitted or annoying manner! Used as a pejorative to describe someone who has just done something stupid, often in situations where they've either been impulsive or it was blindingly obvious beforehand that it was a stupid thing to do. Usually something that isn't a particularly a big deal, esp. when it primarily affects someone else - sort of a mild schadenfreude. Sometimes doubled or tripled, and possibly said in a sing-songy voice for added comedic effect to imitate a muted trumpet, which is how the meme originated.
