Being so mind-blind as an autistic person that you totally miss the intended meaning of something someone else says, especially when they use irony or sarcasm, or you join a conversation and blurt out something stupid or offensive because you didn't realize what they were _actually_ talking about, or you laugh at a joke that wasn't a joke, or you don't notice it when someone is making mad love-eyes at you. Essentially, a complete failure to read between the lines or to read the room or to read expressions.

OMG I feel so stupid. I was at a party and I was telling someone about a book I'd read. They'd say stuff like "How fascinating," and so I'd tell them more and more, and then finally they said, "Hey, I need to go to the bathroom real quick, you wait here." After a long time passed, I realized they were never coming back. I guess they were being sarcastic about it being fascinating. I feel so autisthick.

När du ska börja lära dig det autistiska fingret så är det viktigt att starta på djur och inte människor direkt. Detta är viktigt eftersom man kan enkelt bli anmäld eftersom det är så autistiskt.

Den här riktigt autistiska rörelsen uppkom när en spelnörd i året 2020 satt hemma själv och hade riktigt tråkigt. Han började utforska sina möjligheter att fördriva tiden med sina händer. Han kom snabbt fram till att man kan ta sina fingrar och skapa ett snärt ljud när man för tillsammans två fingrar i en snabb rörelse emot fläsk.

Efter att de unge mannen hade upptäckt den här nya historiska autistiska handlingen så började han experimentera med sin hund som inte kunde anmäla honom.

Okay, there is a lot of misunderstanding when it comes to autistic people. The REAL reason why they are so misunderstood is because people are not listening to the actual autistic people themselves when they hear about autism. Autism is typically said with a negative connotation. For this reason, people like to use autism as an insult, which would make sense if autism was actually bad. Additionally, autistic people often face some form of stigma such as ableism, or discrimination against disabled people. Think of autistic people as square pegs trying to fit into round holes. Instead of trying to change the autistic people into round pegs, try changing the holes into square holes. There is a reason why autistic people can be seen as reclusive or antisocial at times. It is because they know about the bad things people do to each other.

Embrace autistic people whenever you can, and they will take you to places you’ve never been to before.

I’m actually autistic myself, so this is why I wrote this definition. I hope you have learned at least a little from it.

Descriptive noun form of autism/ASD, a neurodevelopomental disorder that can feature differences in how someone navigates social interactions, and differences on how we experience physical stimuli (also known as Sensory Processing Disorder, or SPD).

Autism isn’t necessarily *characterised* by sensory-regulating behaviours (also called stims), and while body-stims like rocking and flapping are fairly common, they aren’t defining characteristics nor is stimming harmful in any capacity (with minor exceptions). We’re also fairly highly represented among BFRB populations,

We don’t all approach social situations the same way either. some of us are nonverbal, others hyper-verbal; one autistic might seek physical contact while another might be repulsed by it. What we’re okay with can also vary depending on the situation or how we feel, we’re people.
We aren’t any more monolithic than allistic folks; if you want to know if we’re comfortable with something, ask us.

Don’t get offended if Riley doesn’t make eye contact with you, they’re autistic.
