how to treat a broken finger

Share definition Flag
There are five ways to do this:

1.Cut it in four different ways and dip it in pickle juice so that when you drink the pickle juice, magic inside will grow back your finger. Side effects of this procedure may result in green finger, internet fame, and a tendency to eat your finger.

2.Wrap your finger in scotch tape after consulting google.

3.Get some piranhas to eat the flesh off your finger and use scotch tape to tape the broken part off the bone back and on a blue moon wrap your finger in wet garlic and hopefully your skin will grow back. Side effects of this may result in turning into a spooky scary skeleton, no vampires will try to bite your finger, and a weird garlic smell.

4.Ask a stupid doctor at Mayland Heights walk in.

5. Or just go to the hospital.
Jonny I want to know how to treat a broken finger!

Died from a broken heart

Share definition Flag
Dying of a broken heart means to die from extreme sadness, grief and hopelessness. Commonly death by a broken heart occurs in romantic relationships, though can also be the result of a loss of intimate emotional attachment(s), rejection, deaths of family or friends or severe betrayal. Though in literary terms symptoms are easy listed, the true experience of suffering of a broken heart is indescribable according to those who have experienced it firsthand.
Perhaps because it is an experience such as loss or love; It can only be understood if felt.
(I.e. A man's wife dies in a disastrous fire. Even though he tries to save her he is not able to get to her in time. Days go by and he has not eaten or slept or tried to contact family or friends. And work has failed to contact him, inquiring about his prolonged absence. Day and night he sits silently on the floor. At times crying hysterically and other times punching the walls and having violent fits. Within a week or a few days after, he dies from the overbearing and crushing grief of the loss of his beloved. Hence, "Died from a broken heart."
Once when I was young I watched a TV program that depicted young man and woman who fell in love rather quickly. It has been a long time since I saw the program, after it was six years ago. She left him, saying something along the lines of "we can't be together or she did not love him anymore." He spent three days wallowing in extreme grief, feeling rejected, alone and hopeless. After these three days he dies. If I am not mistaken it was a made up story. They traced its' origins and found the story to be mostly true. This man apparently "Died from a broken heart" according to the medical examiner and his apartment manager.

like a broken record

Share definition Flag
someone who keeps repeating themselves over and over again to the great annoyance of others
Anton, who doesn't know shit from shanola about training dogs, kept insisting to Jenny, over and over again, that according to a German dog training manual the best ways to train a dog is to hit them. Anton just won't shut up. Jenny, greatly annoyed, has told him he sounds like a broken record and she has no intention of disciplining her dog Lucky by hitting her. Anton is so obnoxious that Jenny is now considering trying out the German discipline method on Anton. Hopefully Anton will read this definition about what 'a broken record' means and shut up forever on this matter.

A second example:

Jenny never wants to hear Mariana's name again. Jenny is disgusted by how Anton and Mariana have treated others. Jenny never wants to hear of Mariana and never wants to see Mariana again. Even though Jenny has repeatedly asked Anton to never mention Mariana's again or talk about her in any way, however, Anton, just like a broken record, keeps bringing Mariana's name up over and over again. Anton doesn't seem to understand that Jenny is very mad that he keeps doing this although she has repeatedly asked him to stop. Anton is rather immature and doesn't seem to understand that the consequences of continually trying to tick off Jenny will mean that Jenny will stop liking Anton and will kick him out of her house and life forever.

Striver

Share definition Flag
The striver is an interesting phenomenon that is seen across college campuses. In essence, the striver is an over-achiever who comes from a working or middle class family. He may be an immigrant. He may have been a slacker in HS who was "born again" into an academic wunderkind. Or he may just be an over-achiever who is keeping at it.

The striver is willing to sacrifice his social life at the expense of Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude. The striver is the guy who stays at the library long after you are gone. The striver is the guy who takes 30 credits/semester and considers anything below an A/4.0 failure. The striver doesn't work on campus, he is too busy finding ways to pad his resume instead of working retail or workstudy. The striver lets his grades pay his education by applying to ten scholarships a year.

The striver is a future Soros/Fullbright/Rhodes/Gates/Marshall/etc. fellow. The striver lives to study. For the striver, their fun comes from the rewards they expect to receive in return for their diligence. Be it Law School, B-School, academia, or politics. The striver seeks to find the American Dream through academic success.
Anthony was a striver. He transfered from a TTT to an IVY and graduated in 2 years. He studied his ass off and went to Penn Law. He got a Biglaw offer. But lost it all because of an unmoderated mesasgeboard.
