Wokesplained

A term used to describe a style of over explaining a topic through the lens of strong or highly emphasised woke social views. Someone who is wokesplaining typically uses moral or ideological language to present themselves as taking the ethical high ground, often speaking with confidence even when their interpretation may not be accurate.

The word is usually applied when a person relies heavily on social justice terminology or concepts to push a point beyond what the situation requires, turning a simple discussion into a lengthy lecture grounded in their personal worldview. It often suggests that the speaker is more focused on displaying their moral stance than engaging with the substance of the topic itself.

In short, wokesplained refers to an interaction where someone uses intense or exaggerated progressive framing to over explain an issue and assert moral authority.

James: “You need to turn your camera off right about now… you have not asked our permission to film any of our building.”

DJ tries to answer, but James keeps wokesplaining:

James: “What if I come and stand at your window and start taking photos of your house… your wife, your children… what are you going to do?”

When DJ calmly explains the difference between private homes and commercial premises, James pushes on...

James: “I would respectfully ask you to cease filming this facility. And I can tell you’re not going to because you’re that sort of bloke.”
