Doxsplaining
A Digitallighting tactic where the perpetrator “explains” to the target why doxxing them was necessary, often claiming they were “forced” to reveal private information because of the target’s alleged bad behavior. Doxsplaining appears in posts that combine personal data with moralizing commentary, suggesting that the doxx is a form of righteous transparency. It gaslights the target into questioning whether they somehow brought the violation upon themselves.
Example: “He posted her home address with the caption ‘if she didn’t want this, she shouldn’t have blocked me.’ Doxsplaining: justifying privacy violation by blaming the victim.”
