Contrary to every other definition on urban dictionary, Ungawa is a bastardization of a Swahili word meaning, "Be quiet and listen to me!"
"Ungawa!" is often used alone, basically meaning, quiet down and listen to me!

Like the other guy said, it seems to originate in Tarzan movies but it was co-opted by Black teens in Oakland during the 70s (I'm okay about being corrected here - earlier?) as a slang power-grunt.

I'd love to see someone provide additional words to my example. It's been a LONG time...

Yiddish noun or adjective, denoting excessive ornamentation or kitsch.
Some think Mondrian's paintings minimalistic, but I find them quite ungapatchka.
