Sketch comedy TV show.
Derived by combining "skit" (another word for a comedy sketch) with "com" (the beginning of the word comedy).
Sometimes confused with sitcoms by people with no understanding of comedy or basic script structure.

Monty Python's Flying Circus, Saturday Night Live, All That, and Roundhouse are all skitcoms.

A web series where the episodes are filmed/acted in a sitcom style, but usually revolve around one joke and are the same length as a skit.

Examples are Jake and Amir & CollegeHumor's "Hardly Working".

"Hey man, that latest CollegeHumor skitcom was sick! Dawg."

A word used to describe all the really bad sitcoms that are coming out recently, which are usually just inferior clones of previous great sitcoms.

Sitcom moment

A way to describe a situation that is awkward or uncomfortable and which could have hilarious consequences, reminiscent of one that would occur in a sitcom.

"Hey man, you hear about Robby?"
"No bro, what?"
"He only went and invited Veronica to the school dance, and then accidently invited her twin sister Tracy to the dance too!!"
"Ha, what a Sitcom moment".

Sitcom

A term for a television series involving the same cast of actors who play the same characters in different scenarios each week in what is commonly referred to as an “episode”. Though not strictly confined to the genre, most sitcoms are comedic in nature, hence the name “sitcom” which is an acronym for “situation comedy”. To sum up what is a fairly ambiguous term, a sitcom is what keeps everyday people from watching the news, thus becoming enraged at seeing what is really going on in the country and thus setting about to murder all of Congress.

A sitcom may include: "Will and Grace" - "Friends" - "Sex & The City" etc.

Shitcom Syndrome

Much like stockholm syndrome (where kidnap victims feel loyal to their abductors), SHITCOM SYNDROME happens when a bad sitcom is thrust upon the viewing public so much it ends up being very popular, battering them into submission until it is named 'The Nation's No. 1 comedy show'

Two and a Half men - broadcast in many countries more than 3 times a week - we don't have a chance!!

'Man, I think I've got Shitcom Syndrome, I laughed at Two and Half Men last night'

'Oh my God, flagellate yourself with the Tv guide quick!'

Some good sitcoms are Seinfeld,Married withchildren,cheers, and happy days.

Ted:Happy days is the best sitcom.
