preliterate

A person who has not developed the use of speaking from reading and writing, but instead from conversation or freestyle speaking. At best they speak in rhythmatic style with bunches of words. It may be explicitly implied that the person does not get their facts from non-fiction or understanding of life from literature.
He spoke in a preliterate style which was perfect for his illiterate followers.
