More ready to discount/ignore/criticize a fortune-teller's work than to support or trust it.

I used to be devoutly "OPTImystic" in previous years. but then when I learned that so many of these mediums had been famously busted as frauds, I eventually became decidedly "pessemystic", especially after a few of my own friends lost sizeable fortunes through said quacks' phony activities. In fact, nowadays the whole subject actually makes me "pissemystic" sometimes, in that I partially lose bladder control on some occasions when I hear about yet another cards-and-incense charlatan embroiled in yet another scandal.

Cautiously Pessimistic 

An increasingly relevant wordplay on the cliché "cautiously optimistic". As the world continues in free fall, its much more realistic to expect negative outcomes. Therefore, its much more pragmatic to maintain a cautiously pessimistic demeanor, rather than a cautiously optimistic one.

My cat is always cautiously pessimistic when inspecting anything new that I bring into the house.

Easily the most negative person in a group of people that are otherwise having a great time. But instead of keeping it to himself, it becomes his mission the fuck the fun up for anybody that looks too happy.

Pessimistic Optimist 

It has many meanings such like :
- taking a precaution to prevent a near death experience
- level of optimism
- they see the cup as nor half full or half empty as to them it is constantly filling whilst constantly emptying
- for a good thing to happen a bad must follow and vice versa

our everyday lives are contributed to by pessimists, optimists and pessimistic optimists. An example of this is that : the optimists invent the aeroplane (great invention defies gravity and stuff), then the pessimists come along and think “no I don’t like that” so they come up with the parachute. Hey presto two great inventions one from a hopeful lunatic and one paranoid hopeful. You have the plane but how about the glider? Once again the optimists make them and such the pessimists the parachute. Now who tests it? The pessimist won’t yet as the optimist trusts his handiwork to much he want to go without any safety so the pessimist stops him. Now no one’s testing it. “I know” they think and they go fetch Dave from the local cafe. Everyone say hi Dave...Now Dave is s pessimistic optimist and he loves the idea of just gliding down to earth however he doesn’t want to die if it goes wrong so he takes the pessimist’s parachute. This is one definition of a pessimistic optimist: taking a precaution to prevent death or severe pain.

Pronounced (peZZimistic). Notice the starting is pronounced like the candy dispensers called 'Pez'. Most people pronounce this word wrong.

It is the opposite of optimistic. Pessimistic is defined as expecting the worst in this worst of all possible worlds.

Another way to spell pessimistic is pezzimistic.

She is pezzimistic because she always believes she will lose at Minesweeper Flags.
