MTV's The Real World

MTV's The Real World: a drunken roommate sleeps with her best friend's boyfriend and the next morning, gets into an ugly fight with her friend. The production team breaks it up, the camera turns to clips of ambulances arriving at the house, and a week after it happened they act like nothing ever happened.

The actual real world: the friend sues the roommate on assault, battery, & defamation charges. The roommate is forced to work 1 full-time job and 2 part-time jobs in order to pay for the court settlement & a cheap apartment right next to the airport in order to get by.

mtv sucks!

The golden chalice of truth that descends upon the millions of unsuspecting, young, insecure American individuals who are being bludgeoned by the credulous infection of bad, boring, baseless media, slipping into their brains like noxious slime, teaching them to consume, fuck, and paint themselves like mannequins, and ultimately refusing them their manifestation of that that is truly youthful: REBELLION.
mtv sucks! is the best antibiotic for our nation's youth, mtv sucks! will expose you to the wonderful strands of music that exist outside of the public eye, mtv sucks! will dose you and make you question reality in the year 2007.

MTV syndrome

The phenomenon based upon the advent of the music video. At the time when the Music Television channel started, an arist's popularity was usually directly proportional to their talent.
The MTV Syndrome has led to the steady reversal of that.

before MTV: Aretha Franklin, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zepplin, Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, Rolling Stones
after MTV: Milli Vanilli, Ashlee and Jessica Simpson, nSync, Spice Girls, etc.
Say, have you seen the new video by My Chemical Romance?

No, I refuse to be part of the MTV Syndrome.

MTV syndrome

Someone who believes that once a song goes on mtv it is lame or that band sold itself out. Also someone who is overly-indie.
first day: person 1: "damn i love (song name here)!!"
second day: person 2: "did you see (song name here) on mtv last night??"
person 1: "ya, it sucked"

Mtv syndrome sucks.

MTV Jersey Shore

Yet another TV show / film that makes New Jersey look bad. This time, MTV is the creator and Seaside Heights is the setting. Instead of filming a show about people who are actually from the Jersey Shore, they focus on the stereotypical fist-pumping, spikey-haired, roid-shooting, shirtless guidos who travel down from New York in the summer.
JOHN FROM BELMAR, NJ:

"MTV Jersey shore was on again last night. You see it?"

MIKE FROM LONG BRANCH, NJ:

"No... I can't stand that fuckin show."

JOHN:

"Me neither."

MIKE:

"Yeah, fuck that show. If we see any film crews at the beach next summer, lets start a riot on the boardwalk."

JOHN:

"Now that would be a show worth watching..."

Surf Dracula Syndrome

A phenomenon in film/television series, most notably streaming series, where the main premise is drawn out to such a point that it takes an entire season or more to get the parts of the series the audience is actually interested in seeing.

For example, if a series is titled "Surf Dracula," a majority of viewers would tune in expecting to see Dracula surfing by the first or second episode. However, the entire first season would instead be tedious padding and backstory before finally ending with Dracula surfing in the last five minutes of the season finale.
I watched "Smallville" on Netflix the other day. Dude, it was ten seasons of filler before he finally flew! Major Surf Dracula Syndrome!
