mistymeanor

A non-felony-level crime of "fogging" to avoid responsibility, culpability, etc.
Political officials are notorious for their vague word-choices, evasive answers, waffling behavior, etc. when faced with embarrassing/controversial questions or conflict-of-interest situations; too bad they are very seldom convicted of said mistymeanors.
