In the E-Learning and Digital Cultures Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) taught by the University of Edinburgh through Coursera, fraingers are strangers from around the globe who met on the various EDC MOOC digital learning spaces and through asynchronous posts discovered their affinity for learning and solidified their connections through synchronous tools like Google Hangouts to become digital friends.

We met as strangers in EDC MOOC, and our asynchronous posts on Facebook and Google Plus helped us become fraingers, or digital friend-strangers for life. Fraingers are strangers from around the world who became friends in a MOOC, and have never met in person.

One who spreads fear, uncertainty and doubt (fud) through propoganda, misdirection and/or shady marketing to fulfill a hidden agenda.

Absent any metrics or supporting facts, the fudmonger claimed to have lost 50% of his site traffic due to the redesigned website.
