Discredit Bias

An entrenched, often ideological predisposition to automatically reject, undermine, or find fault with any evidence, study, or claim that challenges a deeply held paradigm or belief—even when the evidence is robust. It’s not skepticism; it’s a reflexive defense mechanism disguised as critical thinking. The goal isn't to evaluate, but to protect the status quo by any means necessary, using hyper-critical scrutiny on contrary findings while giving supportive evidence a free pass.
Example: Whenever a rigorous, peer-reviewed study suggests potential neurological benefits of a psychedelic compound, a critic with Discredit Bias immediately attacks the methodology, sample size, or researchers' backgrounds, not to engage with the science, but with the predetermined goal of dismissing it entirely to protect the "drugs are bad" paradigm.

store discredit

A phenomenon that occurs when you try to be a good citizen by not downloading music illegally and use iTunes, and then your store credit mysteriously disappears, leaving you angry and frustrated when you can't buy a song you were really looking forward to getting
Guy- Son of a bitch! My iTunes money just disappeared for no reason again!
Guy 2- Damn you just received some store discredit from Steve Jobs!

discretion is the better part of valor

A phrase meaning to not let courage outweigh good judgment; is the potential outcome worth the risk?
Kid (10 years old): I really wanted to punch that boy for what he said dad, but I thought his parents would probably sue us, so I didn’t.
Dad: Wise decision, son. Discretion is the better part of valor. I’m proud of you. What’d the kid say that made you so mad?
Kid: He said mom was a whore.
Dad: What?!... Why didn’t you beat the shit outta that kid!!

Discretti

Discrete graffiti, generally higher brow and/or to the point
I noted a fine example of discretti in my hotel room today, "Crusaders suck Hurricanes Hairy Balls" (two sports teams) was scrawled on top of a door frame.

discreet

A word gay/bi men use to describe themselves in a cool way that they are closet cases and have no intention of coming out soon. This allows them to maintain perceived heterosexual privilege while engaging in their true sexual desires.
"Are you out?"
"No, I'm totally discreet man. I got a girl...she can't know about this."
"Ah, ok I guess I'll keep looking."
"Not into flamers anyway."
"Who says I'm a flamer just because I'm out?"
"Most are."
"Stereotype. You should really come out man."

Discreet mathematics

Discreet mathematics refers to the subtle study of mathematics. Discreet mathematics is characterised by furtive looks in maths textbooks disguised as pr0n and by secret maths lectures held in abandoned warehouses at midnight.

The origins of discreet mathematics can be traced to the 19th century, where young women interested in the mathematical and scientific subjects were unable to openly pursue such studies. Instead, they disguised their math textbooks as lifestyle magazines, and talked about mathematics in a secret code, called Polari.

This became unnecessary due to the total abolition of any form of sexism at all in 1964 by the Ghost of President Kennedy.

Disaccredited

When a school or some other educational establishment loses its official accreditation or licence to operate itself by itself, usually due to lack of competence on its own part.
