and/or baked goods.
This earliest usage of this word can be traced to Berkeley, CA where, legend has it, it was coined by an extremely large Russian man. Etymologically speaking, it derives from two germanicly based words stoned (as well as its variant, stoner) and virginity (see also: cherry).

British slang for a scientist or technical expert, esp . when the speaker is not certain of the expert’s specific field of study. Not necessarily derogatory, but typically used by persons without a technical background. In the US, the equivalent would be “egghead”, “squint”, or “geek.”
