retrolution

A "revolution", usually led by elderly conservatives, aimed backwards in time toward the restoration of some idealized period in the past, often the 1950s.

Retrolution (retro-revolution) is a right wing reaction against modern society and politics. Retrolutionists often scream about "Taking the country back" from the liberal, progressive left wing of politics. What they mean is both "taking the country back" physically, as well as "taking the country back" in time, usually to the time of their own youth.

The underlying causes of the retrolutionary spirit are the fear of old age and death, moral disapproval based on resentment, and hatred and envy towards "immoral" young people.
"The Tea Party movement is part of the exciting GOP Retrolution."

"Some would argue that the Bush administration was even more retrolutionary than the Reagan administration."

"Beck and Palin are powerful retrolutionary leaders."

retrovester

A person who wears vintage clothing, especially from the swing dance era (late 1920s to 1940s), as everyday apparel, as opposed to wearing it only for special occasions. See also retrovestry.

From 'retro', a Latin-derived prefix meaning backwards, which today often refers specifically to the imitation of fashions from the recent past, and 'vest' (Middle English: from Old French vestiment, from Latin vestimentum, from vestire 'clothe', or from the Italian vestis, meaning 'garment'), plus 'er' a suffix descriptive of a person of a type described by the rest of the word.
I'm not a true retrovester. I can't find any vintage nicotine patches.

Retrobate

n. One who can't, or who refuses to walk the bleeding edge of technology, preferring old, reliable tools. I.e. one who shuns PDAs for notebooks, pencils and pocket calendars; would rather meet in real life than on MySpace; and who'd still shoot with cameras which require film. A Luddite.
Bill is the kind of retrobate who rides an old, carburated Harley, rather than a new, reliable, fuel-injected sport bike.

Retrolove

Something vague between an ex-love and an affair opportunity lost never to be found.
I think I should clean up my Facebook a bit of all the unnecessary retrolove.
