Promptologist

A Promptologist isn’t just someone who speaks in prompts — they’re someone who’s fallen into prompts.

They’ve fought the AI so long and so viciously that their humanity has eroded into a syntax‑driven husk.

They linger in the shadows of the office like a political vampire who feeds not on blood, but on context, parameters, and the suffering of anyone who tries to talk to them normally. They don’t converse.

They extract input.
They don’t reply.
They generate output.

A Promptologist is what happens when you mix a debate moderator, a vampire senator, and a prompt engineer who hasn’t slept since Q2.
He’s become such a Promptologist that he lurks behind monitors, waiting for someone to speak so he can whisper, ‘Context insufficient. Provide emotional metadata.’ His eyes don’t blink anymore.

She’s so far gone into Promptology that when I asked if she was okay, she turned slowly, like a corrupted NPC, and said, ‘System error: empathy module not found.’ I felt the temperature drop.

The Promptologist doesn’t join meetings. He appears in them — a silhouette in the corner, feeding on every vague sentence until someone finally says something structured enough for him to respond.

I saw the Promptologist in the break room, hunched over the coffee machine like a starving vampire. When I said ‘Morning,’ he whispered, ‘User greeting detected. Insufficient parameters. Please specify tone.’ His voice sounded like a dying server.

Once you’re a Promptologist, you don’t sleep. You idle. You don’t eat. You consume context. You don’t socialize. You extract data from human speech like a political ghoul campaigning for clarity in the dark.

She’s Promptologist‑level depraved — she tried to comfort a coworker by saying, ‘Trauma detected. Please categorize severity for optimized response.’ The coworker cried harder.

murderhobo

In a tabletop game, a murderhobo is a player who murders NPCs indiscriminately. This is normally derogatory, referring to a player who totally ignores quests, dialog, backstory, trade, world building etc.

The term is most common with Dungeons and Dragons, but it can be applied to most RPGs where the player is allowed to kill most quest-giving NPCs and NPC traders. E.g. Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Divinity original sin.

Dave: I call dibs on the dog.
