The digital equivalent of littering. Dropping a link into a group chat, forum, comment section or online community without any context, explanation or reason anyone should care. Expecting everyone else to spend their time working out why you've shared it because you couldn't be bothered to explain.

Unlike link dumping, which is about quantity, linkering can involve just one link. The problem isn't how much you share, but how little effort you put into sharing it. You're outsourcing the thinking, research and relevance to everyone else while giving yourself credit for contributing.
"One person spends two seconds pasting a URL. Fifty people spend five minutes working out why. The economics of linkering are heinous."

When a person drops a link to a 200-slide presentation with 'Worth a look', a single emoji or worse..nothing!

LinkedIn

An online forum originally intended for professional people to form links with others that they know and trust professionally in order to further their own and their company’s business interests. LinkedIn was co-founded by Reid Hoffman who was previously Executive Vice President in charge of business and corporate development for PayPal and was launched in 2003. Unfortunately, like so many other things (Urban Dictionary for example), it has been overrun by talentless, self-aggrandising wannabes who have nothing to offer the workplace except copious quantities of bullshit.
Interestingly, Hoffman stated that 27 percent of LinkedIn subscribers are recruiters; perhaps this would explain why using recruiters to solve a staffing problem is usually a complete disaster, they’re so full of their own bullshit they believe everyone else’s.
“Have you heard that Malcolm has put up a profile on LinkedIn? Delusions of grandeur or what!”
“Delusions of grandeur? That fuckwit Heale shouldn’t even have delusions of adequacy!”

littering and...

Slang phrase for smoking marijuana. From the movie Super Troopers wherein the troopers are messing with some stoned college-aged kids that they've pulled over on a highway. Lt Ramathorn asks them if they know why he pulled them over and they reply that they don't know. Ramathorn then starts saying mto them, "Littering aaannd... Littering aaannd..." several times and then finally says "Littering aaannd......smokin' the reefer."
"What are you doing, Dude?"
"Not much right now - just littering and..."
This term is normally used, when a boy and girl are talking to each other a lot and its obvious that they are going to go out soon. This defination is normally used in the UK.

Girl 1- "Isn't Mike coming over?"
Girl 2- "Yeah!"
Girl 1- "Then why are you doing crunches?"
Girl 2- "I'm just limbering for timbering. It's gonna get rough tonight, plus I want to burn some flab."
