Fundementalist

A religious fanatic who takes his beliefs to such an extreme that he makes himself --- and unfortunately, often those around him, as well --- literally insane... whether they're so-called "believers" or not, everyone connected with said radical becomes totally "demented".

What with all of his despicable Fundementalist beliefs, teachings, and actions, it's no wonder that Warren Jeffs created such a depraved cesspool of humanity and eventually ended up in so much hot water!

Fundementia

A frequently seen but rarely diagnosed loss of mental faculties, regarded by some to be great spiritual awakening, while rational people recognize it to be a pernicious form of virulent insanity. Characterized by concrete thinking: that is, thoroughly mixed and firmly set. Also, notably, a bizarre amalgam of explicit details connected in vague generalities that sound almost plausible but on examination reveal wild leaps of loose association and magical pseudo-logic such as one finds in frightened two-year-old children's night terrors. Basic/core principle of senility or insanity.

As crazy as many so-called "fundamentalists" behave, the word might be more aptly spelled "fundementalists" when referring to those absurdly-fanatical individuals!
