Empowerment in Action. It means not only giving someone fish and teaching them how to fish, but also empowering them with a sense of possibility so that they may find a whole new way to catch fish that you've never thought of.

A term first coined by a prospective student in his college admissions essays for Stanford GSB - to have a strong effect on someone or something primarily via the use of empathy.
Having a brother who just recovered from the same condition, the nurse felt she could make an empact on the new patient by explaining in detail what he could expect through recovery.
