The aesthetics of the genre are often heavily inspired by the presentation of the leroy page on SoundCloud. Accounts are often themed around a character or piece of media, with screenshots from said media acting as cover art for songs.
As of January 2022, usage of Dariacore to refer to a genre has become contentious after leroy abandoned the label, saying "it would make sense to call it dariacore if everyone made their cover arts daria. do u get what i mean and why it doesnt make sense." As of writing, the most popular alternative label is "hyperflip", but many still continue to label their music as Dariacore, or simply only use a personalized tag.
