SOAPS 

A type of writing AP Language and Composition teachers like to ask you to do for a book during summer. SOAPS stands for subject, occasion, audience, purpose, and speaker.

Subject - What is this about?

Occasion- What happened to cause this to be said/written? Why was it recorded?

Audience- Who is the intended audience?

Purpose- Why was this spoken/written? What purpose does it serve?

Speaker- Who is the speaker or author?

All in all, SOAPS gives students hell.

Joe: FUCK! I have to finish my SOAPS for AP Language and Composition!

Nick: Damn dude. GL. School is tomorrow. It took me like 8 hours!

Joe: DAMN SOAPS!!!!

Soaps 

A brand of sneaker with a removable slick plastic plate in the soles, under the arch of the foot. The plate enabled the wearer to grind on rails and edges without the aid of skates or a board. Style-wise, they tended to be pretty chunky looking, similar to skate shoes, but were probably not as comfortible. They were cool for only a few months in 1998-99, but were popular enough to cause concern among parents and schools. Succeeded by Heelys a couple years later, which had heel-mounted weels and were uglier and even less comfortible. Soaps is now a defunct maker.

Haha, my cousin saved up for a vintage pair of Soaps and broke his jaw the first week after he got 'em!

Television serials, usually airing during weekday afternoons. Were origionally sponsored by laundry detergent companies, hence the title.

"As the World Turns" and "The Young and the Restless" are my favorite soaps.

Acronym. Same Old AP Shit. Statement about Advanced Placement (AP) classes always just doing things "because they might be on the test."

Teacher - You have to be able to analyze primary sources in your sleep, it's a big part of the test.
Student # A - SOAPS....
Student # B - Ya, tell me about it.
