Contumer

Your typical consumer of various Internet content. The main channels of consumption are social media (notably Instagram) and of course YouTube. Usually has the passive role of consuming whatever junk is suggested by the platform and/or whatever is trending (I.e. herd behavior).

Negative implications: significantly reduced levels of critical thinking which in extreme cases could be accompanied by impairment of cognitive ability.

My friend Joe is a true contumer. He spends like 80% of his time watching Twitch streams and viral videos on YouTube.

A person who buys everything without thinking about it, or because she/he simply needs to buy something to be happy.

A company's best friend

Consumerzombie: "I am a big fan of DLC for games, these are awesome! I bought every single DLC to date, because these make games great"

Smart Person: "Damn you are a consumer-zombie, buying this cheap crap without thinking. DLCs are just the new way to milk money from dumb people like you.."

The MOST annoying scam on Urban Dictionary all the time! They pretend to give you a 1000 dollar Wal-Mart card and every third time you open a gift it has one. There are a bunch of fake comments like “one for sale one for me yeah” and “now i can buy Xbox” too easy to figure out. NEVER accept the card unless it’s a fake account.

consumer surplus

an economic term for the benefit you get (or retain) when you obtain something for less than you think it is really worth.

I got a new Gizmondo for 100 pounds and I would have paid up to 200 so I had a lot of consumer surplus.
That company has a monopoly so they jack up the prices to erode my consumer surplus.
