Acronym for single, old, urban professional. Refers to a never married, or more likely divorced, white-collar baby boomer.

In the 80's he was a yuppie. In the 90's he was a dink. Now that the divorce is final he's a souppie.

A general reference in the Afrikaans language to any British oriented person in South Africa:
One whose feet are grounded in both countries (England/South Africa) and therefore his dangly bits dip into the salty ocean beneath.
Direct translation to English: saltcock, salty cock, - but doesn't have nearly the same impact in English.
Most often used with greater or lesser degrees of derogatory emphasis
sout = salt, piel = cock / penis
short version: souties = salties
Plural: soutpielle

"Die soutpiel wil mos nie saam speel nie" translates to "The soutpiel doesn't want to play along"
sometimes prefixed with the words 'blerrie' or 'fokken' which are respectively the Afrikaans slang for 'bloody' "jou blerrie soutpiel!" translates to "you bloody englishman!" or "jou fokken soutpiel!" translates to "you fucking or fuckin' englishman!"

A resident of the Mid-Wales town Welshpool. The Earl of Powys, who lived nearby, used to feed the people of Welshpool with soup, as they were unable to feed themselves, hence the name 'soupie'. Used in a derogative manner to describe any person of questionable character.
