This word is the portmanteau of shank (as hitting a golf ball way off course) and hippopotamus. This word is designed to conjure up images of the worst choke performance you can imagine.
It came down to the last hole, and Gary did a complete shankopotamus. The ball traveled about 10 feet off the tee into the water. He never recovered, lost the round, and lost the game.
