At his start of his solo career Romeo stole the hearts of his fans; around the time his first solo album came out "Formula 1" was when people first started to acknowledge themselves as "Romeistas".

To sum it all up the term "Romeista" is now part of the bachata culture and one can identify themselves to the term by associating with the bachata singer Romeo Santos.
