An individual who does not allow emotions to over take facts, while at the same time not allowing facts to minimize how someone else feels. They are open to discussions, ideas and conversations; and view debates as useful friction. All facets of life are contextual, however, with classic modes of being, trends and stories that can be used as sign posts or guidance (See pragmatism, and stoicism).

James never lost his temper when someone shared a differing opinion from his own. After all he was a philosophical moderate and relished diverse thoughts.

philosophizing

The point in a late night conversation where normal get-to-know-you chit chat is thrown out the window for something much deeper and Aristotle in nature. Philosophizing primarily focuses on the human condition - the intricacies of romance, politics, personal goals and desires, and typically goes nowhere. The gist of philosophized conversations are forgotten in the morning.

Me and Kat were philosophizing until daybreak... And I have no idea what the fuck either of us said.
