While in a restaurant or bar with a group and there is an understanding that the bill will be split evenly amongst the group, one person intentionally orders additional or higher priced items, with the intent that the group will absorb the extra cost. This is also referred to as "the rule" or "the rule is in effect."

A monetary play on being "dissed." It is the opposite of a discount.
