Disagreeable
Disagreeable means nasty, offensive, disgusting, repulsive. It can refer to an unpleasant or unenjoyable experience, something that you wish you had never done, or even thought of or something that you thought would be really good that turned out to be a real disappointment.
It can also refer to someone who is unfriendly and bad tempered, the sort of person who resents and hates everything and everybody; who if you said “Good morning” to them, they would take it as a declaration of war and commence hostilities immediately. They are the sort of person who seems to have a permanent toothache and blames it on everyone with whom they come into contact.

They would, perhaps, refuse to leave the door open when talking to their students in private so that no one would be able to say that they were piping the grad students (You know? As a form of INSULATION FROM SCANDAL). And they would DEFINITELY not EVER acknowledge someone they didn't want to acknowledge.

"How they might be conceptualized" is higher up on their hierarchy of values than the actual truth. For example, if they engaged in some sort of religious enterprise and you asked them whether or not they believe in God.... They would prioritize how they would be conceptualized for answering over the actual answer. So they wouldn't answer. Why should they? They don't want to. And THEIR will is superordinate to all others and must be preserved at all cost."
